Below is a list of volunteer opportunities, dates and times for the RONA MS Bike Tours 2009.

Bicycle Bellhop

Date: August 15 & August 16
Location: University of Waterloo
Time: Saturday 10:30am to 5:00pm / Sunday 6:00am to 7:30am
Description: Assist participants to their rooms with their luggage and/or bikes using stairs
Special Considerations: Medium to heavy lifting will be required, up and down stairs

Date: July 25, August 15, August 23, or September 13
Location: Port Blake (Grand Bend), Brampton Fairgrounds, Kings Bridge Park (Niagara), Centennial Park (Toronto)
Time: 6:30 am to 9:00 am
6:00 am to 9:00 am (Grand Bend only)
Description: Receive participant’s donations, give out rider information, distribute t-shirts and club prizes or greet and give directions.
Special Considerations: Some check in volunteers will be seated at all times.

Time: Afternoon
Description: Prepare sausages and hamburgers for cyclists.
Special Considerations: May be standing for an extended period of time

Location: Port Blake (Grand Bend), UWO (London), University of Waterloo, Brampton Fairgrounds, Kings Bridge Park (Niagara), Centennial Park (Toronto)
Time: Daytime
Description: Stand or sit at finish line to cheer on cyclists.
Special Considerations: Rain or shine outdoors.

Time: All day (Various times available)
Description: Assist in preparing food and assist cyclists with food and beverages
Special Considerations: May be standing for an extended period of time

Finish Line - Gift Bag Distribution

Location: UWO (London), Brampton Fairgrounds, Kings Bridge Park (Niagara), Centennial Park (Toronto)
Time: 10 am to 3 pm
Description: Hand out gift bags to riders as they arrive.
Special Considerations: Mostly standing in Niagara and Toronto

Finish Line - Massage Check-In

Date: August 16 & August 17
Location: Brampton Fairgrounds & University of Waterloo
Time: Saturday 11:45am to 6:00pm / Sunday 11:00am to 5:00pm
Description: Keep the massage area organized by maintaining a waiting line of participants for available massage therapists.
Special Considerations: Sitting most of the time

Time: Various
Description: Assist in selling MS Bike merchandise.

Logistics

Date: July 24, 25, & 26, August 15, August 16, August 23, or September 13
Location: Along the route
Time: All Day
Description: Ride along the route with our logistic truck drivers and assist in dropping off and picking up supplies at checkpoints.
Special Considerations: Physical labour is involved.

Luggage Handler

Date: July 25 & 26, August 15, or August 16
Location: Port Blake (Grand Bend), UWO (London), Brampton Fairgrounds, University of Waterloo
Time: Morning & Afternoon shifts available
Description: Load & unload luggage on and off truck as directed. Unload and arrange luggage as directed at finish lines
Special Considerations: Medium/heavy lifting, standing/walking for extended period of time

Time: 6:30 am to 8:30 am
6:00 am to 9:00 am (Grand Bend only)
Description: Direct traffic to parking spots.
Special Considerations: Standing outside rain or shine.

Passport Station

Location: Port Blake (Grand Bend), Brampton Fairgrounds, Kings Bridge Park (Niagara), Centennial Park (Toronto)
Time: Daytime
Description: Hand out passports to each participant and volunteers (separate passports for volunteers and cyclists). Stamp each passport with the applicable stamps.
Special Considerations: May be standing for an extended period of time or sitting on a folding chair

Photographer

Location: Along Routes
Time: All Day
Description: Taking pictures of cyclists at start, along route and at finish.
Special Considerations: Must have own transportation, equipment and rights to all pictures to be used on MS Society marketing materials.

Time: 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm

Description: Cut fruit, display beverages and greet riders as they arrive
Special Considerations: Bring your own lawn chair. Some standing required.

Route Signage Set Up

Date: August 15, August 22, or September 12
Location: Along Routes
Time: Afternoon
Description: Put up the route signs on posts along the route.
Special Considerations: Your own vehicle for August 15 is an asset. A bike and back pack is an asset for August 22 or September 12. Physical labour is involved.

Time: Daytime
Description: Take down the route signs from posts along the route.

Scrambler and Silent Auction

Time: Afternoon
Description: Set up donated items for cyclists to see. Answer questions and encourage cyclists to participate.
Special Considerations: Mostly standing.

Description: Welcome, congratulate and thank the Top Fund Raisers and Team Captains and assist with distributing beverages to Top Fund Raisers and Team Captains.
Special Considerations: May be standing for an extended period of time

Support and Gear Drivers

Date: August 15, August 16, August 23 or September 13
Location: Along Route
Time: 8 am to 4pm
Description: Drive with a partner along the route and pick up cyclist who need transportation.
Special Considerations: Must have a valid drivers licence (vehicle supplied). Certification in First Aid is an asset.

Description: Assist Teams in the TeamMS area with Check-In
