RONA MS Bike Tour  


 

Grand Bend to London
Saturday, July 25, 2009 and
Sunday, July 26, 2009
Tour Length: 150 km

Start Time: 8:00am
Start Location: Port Blake Conservation Area

 

 

Ontario’s largest two-day Tour! Beginning at Lake Huron in Grand Bend, you will cycle along quiet rural roads to the University of Western Ontario in London for an overnight stay. Enjoy a fun evening of dinner, dancing, and prizes. The next morning, cycle back to Grand Bend for a well-deserved massage and finish line barbecue.

 

The Tour includes rest stops every
10 – 15KM stocked with snacks and beverages and lunch at the halfway point. Support vehicles, bicycle repair shops and experienced cyclists are on route to provide first aid and basic bike repair services.

 

The event registration fee is $40 (until June 30) and cyclists must raise a minimum of $250 in pledges to ride.

 


 

Beyond Cycling

 

Start Line – Getting Ready to Roll

 

The first group of cyclists will leave at 8:00am with everyone on route by 10:00am
We’ll get your day off to a good start with coffee/tea and a variety of nutritious breakfast foods
Volunteers will be on hand to collect pledges and answer any questions
Meet up with your team members and get to know other cyclists
Emergency bicycle repair will be available – but make sure to take your bike to a bike shop before the tour to avoid line-ups!
Staff and Tour Leaders will provide route maps and everything you need to know for a smooth and fun-filled day
Cyclists will leave the start line in smaller groups, accompanied by a tour leader who will provide support along the route

 

 

Rest Stops Along the Route – Go at Your Own Pace

 

Rest stops are provided every 10 to 15 kilometres with food, beverages, and portable toilets
Volunteers will be at each rest stop to provide support
Many rest stops also feature bicycle repair and first aid personnel
The halfway point rest stop will feature a full lunch

 

Finish Line – You Did It!

 

Cross the finish line to the fanfare of our volunteer cheering squad
Refuel with beverages and snacks
Soothe your muscles with a well-deserved massage
On day 2, celebrate your ride with our on-site DJ
Enjoy a finish line barbecue and the satisfaction of having cycled to end MS!
