A tradition of cycling to end MS
Since 1989, the RONA MS Bike Tours have combined fun with fundraising as participants cycle through communities throughout Canada. Thousands of kilometers have been travelled on bikes of every description, with cyclists of all ages and levels of fitness united with a common mission to help end MS.
The first MS Bike Tour, then known as the Noranda Forest MS 150K Bike Tour, took place in August 1989. The event was a resounding success – organizers expected 400 participants and had to make last minute changes when 550 people wanted to take part!
Beginning at Heart Lake Conservation Area in Brampton, riders travelled through Wellington and Peel Counties and Halton Hills, staying overnight at the University of Guelph before returning to Brampton the following day. The Tour raised $300,000, beginning a tradition of pedaling to end MS that has continued for the past 20 years.
Tens of thousands of cyclists have taken to their bikes at the RONA MS Bike Tours. Some ride with friends, family, or form a team with coworkers. Some are looking for a new fitness challenge or a different way to see Ontario’s beautiful countryside. No matter why they ride, all participants in the Tours come away with the knowledge that they are making a real difference in the lives of people affected by multiple sclerosis.
Along the way, our participants are well supported by a dedicated team of volunteers. Whether providing nutritious snacks, offering words of encouragement, or cheering every last cyclist through the finish line, this dedicated group of people is committed to making each Tour the ultimate experience for cyclists.
Some have called it “the event of the summer”. Join us as we cycle to end MS.
More than 10,000 cyclists take part in 22 RONA MS Bike Tours across Canada each year, raising $9 million in pledges. The RONA MS Bike Tours have raised $50 million since their inception.

Brian Carrigan Loop
Putting in the extra distance was never a question for Brian Carrigan. For 17 years, Brian participated in the Brampton RONA MS Bike Tour (now Acton to Waterloo). Through selling
t-shits and holding annual golf and baseball tournaments, Brian was a top fundraiser for 17 years and has raised over $500 000!
Three years ago the MS Society and the bike organizing committee decided to recognize Brian’s contribution with the "Brian Carrigan Century Challenge Loop." The loop gives cyclists the chance to ride an extra 10 kilometers on the Brampton to Waterloo Tour. Brian has always gone the extra distance to raise money to support the MS Society and the Bike Tour and the loop is to challenge cyclists to also go the extra distance and ride a full century.
