Election 2008

Ask the parties and candidates to champion income security for people affected by MS!

Send a message to the candidates in your riding

Read the responses from the party leaders to MS issues.

AdvocatingOn Tuesday, October 14, Canadian voters go to the polls. This is a great opportunity to raise the issues that are important to people with MS. We need to make sure candidates are fully aware of MS and gain their support on our key issues.

The MS Society of Canada is asking the federal government for changes that would allow more people with MS to stay at work and remain part of their communities. These modest improvements would help people with MS, and their families and caregivers gain the income they must have to cover essential needs. Many people with MS are no longer able to work, and family members who are caregivers often have to cut back on their own jobs to provide needed care.

Here’s what you can do to support our election effort

  1. Send a quick e-mail message to the candidates asking them to support these key steps:

    • Make Employment Insurance sickness benefits more flexible to allow people to work part-time and receive partial benefits.

    • Make the Disability Tax Credit a refundable benefit.

    • Allow spouses to claim the Caregiver Tax Credit – right now this isn’t allowed.

      Send your message now

  2. Talk to the candidates about our issues - at your door, when they phone or at election meetings.
Learn more about the key steps needed to help people affected by MS gain secure incomes.

  3. Encourage your family and friends to get involved
Use our online “Tell-a-Friend” tool to spread the word about this campaign.

  4. And most important -
Be sure to VOTE on October 14!

Please send a message to candidates in your riding now!

Your voice will make a difference.
