To the top of Africa to end Multiple Sclerosis!

In early January 2011, 44 people set out to conquer Kilimanjaro – all 5,895 metres of it – after raising $600,000 for research and services for people with multiple sclerosis.

They returned at the end of the month with some amazing memories, numerous tales to tell and a unique experience behind them. And, of course, they had also contributed to our ultimate goal: to end MS.

Organized in cooperation with Karavaniers (in French only), the trip was far from restful! With snow, rain, fog and the many cliffs they had to walk along, the hikers made enormous physical efforts to summit one of the tallest volcanoes in the world. The group’s morale remained high throughout their two-week adventure.

Completing this project was a victory for all participants, both physically and philanthropically. Over almost a year and a half, each one had succeeded in raising $12,000 in donations and pledges. They also paid their own travel expenses.

You can read a summary of their adventure on the event’s web page (in French only): http://mssociety.ca/qc/Kilimandjaro.htm

Congratulations to all of our participants! Now, on to the 2012 MS Kilimanjaro Challenge!
