Purpose
To assist in the counting/reconciliation of pledges collected.
Responsibilities
Opening the pledge envelopes that are collected at the event, removing the cash & cheques, and reconciling the funds with the accompanying paperwork
Checking for discrepancies and advising staff liaison

Purpose
To assist in the successful service of breakfast to Bike participants.
Responsibilities
Set up and prepare coffee, tea and hot chocolate (optional).
Van Houtte likely is OK to do the above on their own but offer assistance
Set up water stations with water cups.
Cut up fruit and lay out on trays.
Prepare breakfast food and lay out on trays.
Check on supplies continuously and clean away any litter.
Help clean up food area at conclusion of event.

Purpose
Photograph the event with the help of one assistant.
Responsibilities
Photograph teams at TeamMS Tent while assistant checks teams off list to make sure all teams have been photographed.
Photograph participants at Start - Finish line right before and as they take off on the route.
Take photos of site to document setup.
Photograph any VIPs or individuals giving speeches or accepting awards.
Photograph participants at Start - Finish line as they return from the route.
Take general event photos of participants and volunteers during and after lunch.
Responsible for securing signed permission from your subjects
Submit all photos on CD to the MS Society at original file size the week following the event.

Rest Stop Attendant
Description

Purpose
Hand out refreshments to participants at designated rest stop along the route.
Responsibilities
Put up signs to identify rest stop.
Decorate rest stop with balloons.
Set up water coolers and cups.
Set out snacks.
Provide moral support to the participants – cheer them on!
Monitor supplies and contact Rest Stop Coordinator for additional supplies before you run out.
Prepare to leave when sweep vehicle tells you to (not before please).
Clean your rest stop and pick up all garbage.
Introduce yourself to the winery or location staff upon arrival.

Route Marshal
Description

Purpose
Provide encouragement to participants along the route at designated areas.
Responsibilities
Alert participants of heavy traffic areas, hazards or changes on the route. Be careful not to stop participants in an unsafe location.
If needed, alert traffic that participants are crossing intersections. We do not want to anger or alarm drivers. Just encourage them to drive with caution and at no time should a route marshal attempt to stop oncoming traffic. We are not authorized to do so.
Remind cyclists, when needed, of the rules of the road:
All riders must ride in single file
Riders must obey traffic signals and stop signs
Report any minor first aid problems or cyclists needing bike repairs to Tour Leaders or Motorcycle Brigade
Keep the participants’ morale up! Cheer them on! They need your encouragement!
Stay at location until the Route Coordinator tells you to depart. If you need a ride back to the site, tell the Route Coordinator and he/she will take you back.
Pick up any garbage before leaving your location and bring back to the site.

Route Support

Purpose
To ensure that the Rest Stops are set up with the appropriate supplies and equipment and then taken down once all participants have been through.
Responsibilities
Before event starts on Saturday and Sunday, ensure all signage is accurately placed along the route.
Replace any signage that has been taken down from original placement
Transport (in van provided) supply box, tables, chairs, tents and necessary equipment to all Rest Stops.
Responsible for setting up/tearing down tables, chairs, tents etc. at Rest Stops.
Report any minor first aid problems or cyclists needing bike repairs to Tour Leaders or Motorcycle Brigade
Collect wine orders from wineries and return them to Sandman Hotel
Pick up any garbage before leaving each location and bring back to the site.

Valid BC Driver’s license
Reliable
Able to work as a team

Team MS

Purpose
You are responsible for welcoming Team MS team captains & team members; handing out team captain gifts; facilitating team photos; giving out Team MS tattoos; making the Team MS area fun & welcoming.
Responsibilities
The following 2 things should have already been done before participants get to the Team MS table, but if they have not already done so then remind all team captains & members to:
Drop off their bikes at the bike rack
Check-in at the check-in area.
Hand out team captain gifts to teams only. Encourage teams to enter draws and contests
Hand out Team MS stickers & tattoos.
Other promotional duties as assigned
Instruct team captains to assemble their team at their Team MS Tent, and when ready the team captain should come back to the Team MS table to notify a volunteer that the team is ready for their team photo. .
Answer general questions about the Bike Tour. Please refer to the schedule of events document & the route maps that will be posted at the Team MS table.

Tour Leader

Purpose
To cycle with participants, providing guidance along the route and ensure that all cyclists exercise safe cycling practices.
Responsibilities
You will need to have a cell phone and if possible a basic repair kit with a pump.
Ensure that all cyclists exercise safe cycling practices including wearing a helmet and stopping at lights and stop signs.
Wear safety vest for easy identification
Familiarize yourself with the route and the location of the Rest Stops
Safety is the key to the success of this event so please talk to your Cyclists and stress safety!!
If you witness any minor first aid problems or cyclists needing bike repairs please contact the Event Coordinator.

Responsibilities
When volunteer arrives please check off name on master list
Make sure that everyone has handed in a Volunteer Application form.
Hand out volunteer t-shirt and yellow sticker name tag. Initial master list that they received a t-shirt.
Provide volunteer with their assignment and direct them to the designated area.
