Join this amazing team of MS Society Volunteers!

volunteer

The MS Society is a volunteer driven organization – we could not accomplish our mission without support from our volunteers. We are fortunate to have a team of approximately 1000 committed volunteers who help out in various capacities throughout the year in areas such as fundraising events, leadership, office work, and programs/client services.

Join our amazing team of volunteers! We are looking for people to lend their time and talent in the following areas:

Fundraising/Event Volunteers

The MS Society is the only organization in Canada to fund research and provide support to those with MS and their families. By being a part of our fundraising events, volunteers make a difference in the life of someone with MS

Scotiabank MS Walk takes place on April 25, 2010 and is the MS Society of Canada’s largest fundraising event. It is fun and family oriented and takes place in 25 BC & Yukon communities. More than 1,000 volunteers play a critical role in its success. Whether part of the planning committee or helping out on event day – we need you! Call the site nearest you and offer your time - you can even collect pledges too!

Carnation Campaign takes place May 6 & 7, 2010 and is the MS Society of Canada’s oldest fundraising campaign. Join us in this nationwide campaign where thousands of bouquets and potted plants will be sold to raise money towards ending multiple sclerosis. The Carnation Campaign is held in May (in time for Mother’s day!) and is part of MS Awareness Month.

RONA MS Bike Tour is the MS Society of Canada's fastest growing event. A large energetic contingent of volunteers is needed to help make it the success it is!
Fraser Valley Grape Escape June 5 & 6, 2010
Vancouver Scenic City Tour August 8, 2010

Holiday Gift Wrap is at a special booth in Metrotown Mall in Burnaby. They supply the wrap – we supply the volunteers. Come enjoy the season of giving and give the gift of your time. 2010 dates TBA.

Administrative/Office Volunteers

Administrative volunteers are organized individuals who enjoy working with a team. These opportunities are ideal for volunteers wishing to enhance their administrative skills or share existing expertise during office hours.

  • Reception coverage- answering phones, using switchboard

  • Administrative support to fundraising, communications and client services including word processing, data entry, filing and mail-outs.

Program/Client Services Volunteers

As a nonprofit agency, everything we do relies on the energy and expertise of volunteers. Our program and client services volunteers assist with many roles from peer support to advocacy.

  • Peer Support Volunteers – Do you have MS?  Would you like to be trained to provide support for others who are living with MS?  Call us today.
  • Volunteer Legal Advocacy Program (VLAP) – If you are a lawyer or have advocacy experience and some spare time we would love to hear from you. We are also seeking volunteers who have patience and enjoy working with people to help clients with their Canada Pension Plan – Disability Benefits application.
