Genevieve Sigalet Genevieve Sigalet is the woman behind the man in the net. Genevieve is the mother of Jordan Sigalet, a talented hockey goalie, who was diagnosed with MS in 2004. Genevieve talks practically about the enormous job of organizing the “Shut Out MS” event, a fundraiser she started in 2005. The event includes a hockey game with celebrity guests from the NHL and Hockey Night in Canada and a dinner complete with a silent auction and a live auction. “Probably my favourite part is seeing the whole thing when it all comes together." And the greatest challenge? “Staying on time with the presentations and speeches!” Genevieve’s dinner, the hockey game, and several other initiatives, including a cookbook, and an outdoor concert held at the home of her friend Judy, have raised over $180,000. Genevieve designates the money she raises to MS research. Genevieve was the 2011 WAMS Honouree and received the 2008 Division Award of Merit. Past profiles: Back to BC & Yukon Division Homepage. |
