About Us
Our
Mission:
To be a leader in finding a cure for multiple sclerosis and enabling people
affected by MS to enhance their quality of life. |
We are the Alberta
Division of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Through our Division
office in Edmonton and our 17 Chapters throughout Alberta, we offer a range
of support services to Albertans with MS, while raising funds to support
these programs and world-class MS research.
We operate with
virtually no government funding. The
majority of our operating budget comes from visionary individual and corporate
donors, and through the efforts of our own high profile fundraising activities.
Additionally, volunteers are critical to our success. Our volunteers provide
leadership and governance, help with administration and our daily operations,
and are the backbone of our fundraising activities.
We are proud of
our track record and our accountability. We are consistently a leader amongst
MS Society Divisions in terms of per capita amounts raised for our national
MS research efforts, and our expense-to-expenditure ratio is amongst the
lowest for similar Canadian non-profit organizations.
The Alberta Division
is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of volunteer members who are
elected annually (our current Board of Directors is listed to the left).
Our 17 Alberta Chapters are also governed by elected volunteer boards of
directors.
